About

Licensed Marriage & Family therapist  |  Licensed professional counselor

Dylan Davies, MA, LMFT, LPC

Welcome! I’m a psychotherapist in Central Austin who specializes in couples therapy, interpersonal group therapy and individual therapy for adults. I work with couples who have reached an impasse in their relationship or who are looking to enhance their relationship by more deeply understanding and transforming their learned relational patterns. I enjoy helping couples create more vitality in their relationship and live with a greater sense of ease, freedom and harmony together. I specialize in working with individual clients wishing to explore barriers to deeper connection with others, including working through attachment concerns, and finding greater confidence and enjoyment in romantic, friend, work and family relationships. I also work with adult children who wish to do family therapy with either a sibling or parent.

I have received specialized couples training in various modalities including Relational Life Therapy (RLT), the Gottman Method and Ellyn Bader’s Developmental Model through the Couples Institute. My work with interpersonal group therapy is informed by modern psychoanalysis from the Center for Group Studies in New York where I am currently a student in advanced group studies.

I have extensive training in sexuality and have been passionate about bringing educational opportunities to the Austin area. Eight years ago, I co-founded the Austin-based Sexual Health Alliance, but have since refocused my energy on my clinical work. I worked as the resident Sex Therapist during my clinical practicum at North Austin Urology and provided couples therapy at Capital Area Counseling in 2015 before graduating with a M.A. in Counseling from St. Edward’s in 2015. I have served in a leadership position on the board of Austin Psychoanalytic as the Marketing Chair for 2018-2020 and was on the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee at Austin Group Psychotherapy Society from 2018-2019.

I anchor my practice on the principles of integrity, genuineness and professional competence. I draw inspiration from reading, music and art and continue to take part in trainings that enhance my clinical skills whenever possible. In my free time, I enjoy cycling, playing the banjo and walking the wooded trails in neighboring Pease Park.
